Sixth Grade Curriculum
Living the Christian Life
The goal of this class is for the students to develop their knowledge of the Bible and to apply biblical knowledge to one’s life experiences. Also to understand the meaning and importance of Christian character as found in the Bible, and develop and demonstrated godly character traits.
How do stars form? How are cells powered? What do electricity and magnetism have in common? Have you ever thought about why things happen? Our God is an awesome God. He created the Earth and the universe to run perfectly. In Science 6, students study the animal kingdom, currents, both electrical and magnetic, the solar system, and cells. As scientists in training, students will ask many questions, engage in many investigations, and do experiments to help answer their questions.
This course is designed to aid students to become proficient in the fundamental operations of arithmetic. Topics will include comparing and ordering integers, operations with whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and mixed numbers. They will also be calculating averages and percentages, standard metric measurement usage, and applying basic geometry formulas.
United States History
Students will be exposed to the biblical worldview of history as they study the events and people that have molded our country. The study will include geography, economics, history, and the use of maps, graphs, and timelines. It is designed to study themes that tie the past and the present together. It will include a study of the U.S. Constitution.
A challenging and enriching environment where one can master basic grammar skills used for writing, reading, and life, as well as explore a variety of authors and literature genres.
The Spanish classes at FRCS are a K-12 program. The emphasis in 6th grade Spanish is to develop communication skills that utilize the vocabulary they learned in elementary school. Emphasis is placed on speaking and mastering short conversations.
In order to advance in today’s digital society, students need a strong digital foundation. Through this course, students will learn the necessary skills for today’s digital world. These skills will sustain them through their middle school careers. Topics covered include keyboarding, digital citizenship, digital collaboration, document publication, web publication, computer architecture, and software architecture. Emphasis will be placed on current technology and technological events.
